“Do you wonder about virtualization? Are you seeking for the best virtualization platform for your specific environment? Project VRC shows you the way!”, this is the first question that suggest what kind of information we can find on new VRC website. The project has been launched by virtualization experts, Ruben Spruijt and Jeroen van de Kamp.
This is a non-sponsored joint effort that produced a set of valuable benchmark comparisons between VMware ESX, Citrix XenServer and Microsoft Hyper-V, when running Windows XP and Vista virtual machines for Terminal Services and VDI environments - Bare-Metal Platform Index v1.0, Hyper-V Platform Index v1.0, VMware Platform Performance Index v1.0, and XenServer Platform Performance Index v1.0.
Ruben and Jeroen measured the hypervisors performance by using Login Virtual Session Indexer (VSI) and performed over 150 tests. They analyzed the impact of several configuration changes for each hypervisor, and extracted data that helped them to suggest which setup is the most performing.
